I ought to write an entry on the ‘history’ of my username soon.
Two Saturdays ago, the oktoLIVE! team was invited to our Casting Director, Kalai’s wedding at the famous Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple (Govindasamy Pillai Wedding Hall)!
Most of us had never attended an Indian wedding before and we found it really interesting to be part of this grand event.
Kalai and her husband. The bride’s so pretty! =D
Us with Kalai, her hubby and our Production Manager’s family. =D
We got to view and experience first-hand the customs involved in a traditional Indian wedding. After the ceremony, non-family members proceeded to the first level for a fan-tabulous spread of delicious Indian food. The food was really mad awesome! Love the curry!
After the extremely satisfying and filling dinner, we went back upstairs to give our blessings and greetings to the couple. We are really thankful to be able to witness an Indian wedding ceremony. Now we know how and what to do when our other friends get married in future. [Shout out to Priya: "Faster get married!" =P]
Yes, I did that a couple of times the other day.
Jovis, Wen Ting, Flora and I were invited to Yahoo! YOUREKA! Finale @ Singapore Flyer’s Sky Deck (I didn’t know this part existed previously) last Saturday and we had great fun running just about everywhere to check out what the event has to offer. Well, I did most of the running anyway since I was there as a contestant too. =X

The grand prize that Chong Wei won. Congrats man!
There were four challenges in this YOUREKA! finale, and there were 50 contestants (including me) in total.
The first challenge was the treasure hunt, where everyone had to scour the Flyer for clues and collect at least five clothing/accessory pieces to proceed to the next challenge. Only the 1st 16 contestants to return to the stage fully clothed with their finds could proceed to the Musical Chairs round.
Dan and Young were the comperes for the event and they were really hilarious and made our day with their quirky comments. We managed to take photos with them… like finally! We usually see Justin around in MediaCorp but not Dan and Young. Not that we do not want to see Justin but it would be great if Vernon was with him too…… Okay, I’m blabbering.
Anyways, I was rather nervous at the beginning but i soon became bonkers during the first challenge.
I mean, under normal circumstances, I wouldn’t have barged into 7-11 or Popeye’s or any other outlets when I was obviously perspiring and panting like nobody’s business. But what to do? I couldn’t find the last station… the clue was something about ‘big splash’ so i assumed that it had to be a fountain.
Here’s a reenactment of what happened when I ran into Popeye’s:
Me: “*pants and spotted my ex-colleague* MICHELLE!!! YOU KNOW WHERE IS THE FOUNTAIN?! *high shriek*“
Michelle: “…?!”
Michelle’s colleagues: “?!”
Michelle’s customers: “?!”
Me to Michelle: “Sorry, I’m playing this game. *pants* Have to find a fountain. *pants* You know where is it?? *pants*“
Me to Michelle’s speechless manager: “You know???!!!?? *pants*“
Michelle’s manager: *stares at me and shakes his head slowly*
Me to all: “Okay, *pants* never mind. *pants* Thanks. *pants* Bye. *ran out of Popeyes*
After the event, I SMS-ed Michelle and apologized for rushing into the outlet and appearing like a ’siao char bor’ (mad woman) earlier and she replied: “Ya lah, you suddenly come in asked me where is the fountain? Then i was like ~huh… Haha.“
Notice that she did not deny that i was a ’siao char bor’…… *ahem*
I wouldn’t be surprise if I were to appear in many strangers/tourists’ photographs…
Called Jovis at the last resort and asked if she knew where was the fountain. She didn’t know either and told me that there were already 16 contestants on the stage so I decided to stroll back. HAHA!
Sat at the backstage to cool down before the emcees announced the prize presentation for those who did not made it to the top 16. OMG! DJ KOFLOW AND ELECTRICO WERE THERE TOO! Luckily I acted normal… Got a Yahoo! laptop bag with a really cool purple hard cover book titled ‘Purple’ that contains designs and information of various artists on the theme ‘Purple’. Love it!
Afterward, I went to the VIP area and downed my throat with guava juice and hot dogs while waiting for Jovis and the rest to come back from their interview with the Ogilvy people.
Speaking of Ogilvy, they were so so so so awesome and really friendly! Allan, Tania, and everyone! <3
Peter from Yahoo! was really great too! Thank you everyone for making our day! We had tremendous fun at the event thanks to everyone! [Will post up the photograph that we took with them once they are up]
I think that this event is really well-organized and it has certainly helped much in encouraging people like me to rediscover Yahoo! =D
Anyways, here are some of what id learned from the treasure hunt:
- Never ask a fellow contestant anything as they will only say “I don’t know” or shrugs their shoulders. (ROFL!)
- Security guards can be friendly too! (Thanks for all your help and kind words!)
- One should drink lot’s of water before a race to avoid dehydration. (I totally forgot about this)
- Do not carry any backpack (like me) if you are supposed to run
- Wear proper shoes and attire in a race as it matters a lot
- If you know that you will be competing in any race, train in advance! (or your entire body will ache like mine even after two days!)
*winks*

Watched several videos of Jeong Hoon including the parting message that he gave just before his enlistment.
Suddenly misses him a lot.
Hoonie, where are you?
Finally done with our mock job interview CA for Professional Preparation module and case study plus blog entries/tweets CA for New Communication Technologies (NCT) module.
Having mixed feelings now. I’m glad projects have completed but sad that school has to end.
Will be having dining etiquette ‘tutorial’ before our free 3-course dinner at SP’s graduate guild house in the evening after our final NCT tutorial with Ping.
*grins*
You would have probably heard it by now. *complain complain complain*
Yes, I’m terribly sick. Having a major throat inflammation and blocked nose.
Darn, BOTH nostrils are blocked! FML (picked up from Jov).
Having difficulties speaking coherently too. How am I supposed to do the CA interview on Thursday?!
And yes, I’m going to stay up late tonight to complete my school projects.
*cough splurtt cough*
Last Thursday we had to attend a compulsory Career Day talk after school.
Our senior, Alvin, spoke about his internship with an advertising company before we were split into smaller groups- Advertising, Public Relations, Journalism, TV Production and Events.
Jov and I went for Advertising and our guest speaker was Mr Addison James, Joint CEO (Asia Pacific) of Lloyd Northover Yeang Pte Ltd. Basically, he told us straight on what advertising is about.
Here are what I have learned from his talk, if you are interested in this field:
- Different roles: Suit, Planner and Creative
- Suit- Client servicing. What most of us might be doing if we were to join this industry
- Planner- Are normally those who’d worked for many years in this industry and have gained lots of life experiences
- Creative- All about ideas. Usually those who come from art colleges. If you run out of ideas or your ideas are not chosen, you might be kicked out.
- Advertising is about persuasion, not necessary truth
- A good CV is important if you want to apply for this job
- You need to be able to commit to deadlines. If you think you can’t, don’t bother agreeing in the first place as it would only make it worse if you cannot meet it
- Lie: Advertising is shrinking
- Lie: Advertising must suit client/be boring
- Lie: Suits carry bags
- Lie: Creatives must win awards
- Advertising is about communication, not arts
It’s fascinating to know what the advertising people think and what they expect of their interns.
After the session, we went back to the lecture theater and listened to a talk by someone from Aquent regarding the jobs trend and the market now. Very business-y.

It would have been great if we could learn more about the other industries as well.
For journalism (Guest speaker from SPH!), they received this piece of paper with useful information which i find intriguing:

I’m thinking of pursuing Journalism (tabloid), Advertising (suit/creative), Social media or Events.
Any tips out there?
I look weird… =/ And oh, P.Dionz’s real happening eh? =D
Love this photo! Unfortunately, Yamhead’s head blocked mine! =’(
Before the photoshoot. These photos aren’t the actual photos that are going to be used in our school’s photobook by the way.
ROFL. Aq’s hand’s real humongous!
My class rocks. What more can I say? *grins*

The very thought of future is indeed intimidating.
Jov and I presented on ‘Search: Google today, Google tomorrow’ last Friday during our New Communication Technologies (NCT) lesson.
Ping gave us some hints in our CA brief that we have to include in our presentation: Wolfram Alpha, Semantic Web and Bing.
Initially, we were a little bewildered and lost on what we were supposed to present as from our interpretation, it was a presentation on Google and Google alone.
However, after some researches, we finally got the link. Have you?
We started off our presentation with a video on Google:
They have been constantly rolling out new ideas, with the latest being Google Wave.
One certainly does wonder what’s next for Google.
Following the short video, I spoke about the various search engines there are today, namely, Dogpile, Ask, Yahoo and so on.
Have a look at this! Tell me which search engines you have never seen or heard of before!
After the brief introduction, I spoke on how search engines work.
In the past, I did not give much thoughts to how they actually work.
‘Give me the results that I want and I’m out of there’.
Now, I have an idea of how such sites have something called a spider (aka web crawler), that searches for links, information found get categorized by a huge database called the Indexer, and when users searches for something, viola~, the Query Processor matches the keywords to what they have in their database and throws you the results!
Amazing eh?
What’s more amazing is that Google actually has some limitations. Yes, you read it right.
Google solve search enquiries based on analyzing keywords and not their meanings.
It also lacks of human contact in the sense that its immediate results (links) are generated technologically and not curated or audited from humans.
That brings us to the point about Google being a gone-r tomorrow.
Here are some ups and comings:
- Semantic Web
Semantic search allows you to search and get results that are closer to the topic that you are looking for instead of providing you will any random links that contain the key words. One such semantic web search site is Hakia.com.
Click here to read up more on semantic web.
- Wolfram Alpha
Wolfram Alpha is an answer engine and not a search engine.
It provides the answers immediately rather than giving you random links that may or may not have what you are looking for.It provides factual answers from its internal knowledge base made up of experts from various fields who create and verify the results before they are made available.
It is good for finding out quantitative things.
Try keying in your birth date and be wowed by the results! Here’s a video on how to and what you can use it Wolfram Alpha for:
- Bing
Bing is similar to Google in many ways. However, it is also different in the sense that Bing helps users to save time.
When you key in a search word, it brings you to a page with many links (like that of Google). However, mouse over to the little red dot on the right of the link and you will be able to see what the web page is about without having to click the link!
For US version, Bing actually categorizes your results to make it easier for you to suzz out what you are looking for! Awesome isn’t it?
Also, if you are doing a video search, you can simply mouse over the videos in your results and they will play automatically! Try it!
Check out this video for a comparison between Bing and Google:
I think i might switch to Bing soon. Totally agree with Wals’ tweet on how Bing is cooler than its name though. =P
Anyway, after knowing the differences as well as what these engines have that Google does not, what do you think Google will come up with next? Will Google remains as strong as before? What is the future of Google?
Tell me your views.

Flo, Yam/n and I video-called Ping through Aq’s 3G phone to send birthday greetings during Ep 1 rehearsals. =]

DMC 04. Woohoo! Will miss everyone after graduation. Psps for wearing so slack-y that day! =X

oktoLIVE! studio shoot

Yam/n photoshopped it to make it seems like a parody of some chinese drama that I am not aware of… The ‘abalone’ looks so unappetizing! ROFL!

Our lovely talents for Episode 2 opening and ok-to Learn segments.
Megs, Jov and I are really grateful to them for agreeing to come on our show and happy that we get to take a photo with them. Hey, I was a yo-yo fan in the past! Believe it. *grins* Okay, a beginner in other words. >.<
Thank you Colin, thank you everyone. Spinworkx was awesome!
Check out their performance and Colin’s (co-founder of Spinworkx) teaching segment here if you’d missed the live and repeat telecast last week!

Our celebratory dinner after Episode 1

Catch oktoLIVE! every Friday LIVE at 6.30pm! =D
Ping showed this video to us last week and every single one of us were awed by it.
From what I understand, they are currently working on this project.
I can’t wait for this to turn up in the market.
Love the photo-taking one at 3:18. Classic.
In addition to that, technology has also resulted in mobile revolution trends.
In the past, the earliest phones were huge and non-portable.
Today, you won’t see anyone carrying around antique buggy phones with antennae sticking out and buzzing out old polyphonic ring tones.
Check out a video clip on mobile revolution (watch from start to 3:01).
Yam/n and Pyaya presented on this topic the other day and they started off with a treasure hunt around the school.

Our team members, Sam and Dine, were supposed to run around their allocated floor to search for pieces of paper that have photos of phones from different generations on them.
When they find them, they have to text/tweet/video-call (depending on which group they are in) the models to us.

Wals receiving the SMSes from Sam and Dine before tweeting to Yam/n and Pyaya
When that is done, remaining team members in the classroom have to tweet to Yam/n and Pyaya, and the first team who tweet through wins.

Gladycast was down and we had no choice but to tweet via laptop instead.
And our group won! =D

For more information on what they presented, check out Yam/n’s blog entry here.
After their presentation on Mobile Revolution, it makes one wonder what sort of phones would be invented next.
Aside from social media and other ups and comings, flash mob is kinda like the new IN thing in Singapore and around the world.
A sponsored flash mob by HTC at Raffles Place.
You know what? I kinda wish that i was there as one of the dancers. =P
Lincoln High Street flash mob
Supermarket flash mob
Was extremely tremendously excited over 2nd episode before it started as this time, I was more involved in my role as I was the point of contact for one of the segments.
The Yoyo guys and girl were awesome! oktoTalk, okto-Have Fun and ACS (Junior) Junior Vibez kids rock too! =D
Do remember to catch the repeat tomorrow (Sunday) at 1pm if you’d missed it on Friday!

Yam/n and our producer, LH. Hoodie-style inspired by the ACS Junior Vibes Hiphop kids in Hoodies who performed in our closing segment yesterday.

Our new office!

My own desk finally! Now i can decorate it with Jeong Hoon’s photos! HAHA! Inspired from Megs.

As id mentioned before, he’s crazy over SI…
Was talking to Xian Feng (@uneasyxf) over MSN just now regarding Social Media (Twitter, blog traffic, SEO, etc) as a follow-up on our tweets.
The interesting thing about it is that what he spoke about bore striking similarities to what we have learned so far in our New Communication Technologies (NCT) classes.
Learned many new things from him too. Thanks, XF! =]
Here’s a portion (which XF has kindly granted me permission to share on my blog). Check it out.
ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*website SEO also plays a crucial part
*http://pingomatic.com/
*ping your blog to all the portaks
*might take a while but its essential‘ l e e N says:
*whats that
ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*its a.. . all in one ping service
*it submits your blog rss and content status to all of the sub portals

*will boost your traffic
*anyway more technically would be SEO
’ l e e N says:
*oic. so i can jz select all?
ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*but you dont have to know, providing good content is sustainable

ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*whenever there’s a new content from your blog
*reping coz the services all receiving high traffic, some blogs requested to ping periodically
*actually its like a notification signal to search engine
’ l e e N says:
*oic
ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*for e.g ping google and google will send its bots and crawl yr web
*collect the new info that you’ve just posted
*into its search engine database (update)
*and boomz when ppl search for keywords
*they find the content of your blog listed on the search results
*in relevance.
*the end
*understood?
’ l e e N says:
*i’ll try to haha. got lost at the 3rd point
*what do u mean by google sending bots
ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*lol.. ok curse you i have to explain in technical terms
*basically
*why websites info
’ l e e N says:
*i know whats a bot though
ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*are displayed in google search engine
*the reason being, the bots are actually inactive
*i mean they are constantly collecting
*NEW info from all over the net (world)
*and when minor blogs from commoners publish new content
*they dont usually get archived by the search bots
*reason being the website is either identified as unpopular (content are of no importance to appear in search results)
*or not relevant to be included
*so what we do here is if we have a good piece of valuable content
’ l e e N says:
*basically, it means that this allows our blogs to surface amongst the other searches?
ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*and our blog traffic is just plain normal
*yea. it kinda help to surface
’ l e e N says:
*oic
ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*but other factors involved
*this ping communication only works in the sense that it triggers the respective engine’s bots e.g google
*that there is new content and it just go index the content from the web
*and from then on the bots will do their evaluation and tada if its valuable it gets listed
*but of course whether it appears on the first page depends on some factors
*and that some factors are what i have said to be SEO
*the end
*understood?
’ l e e N says:
*we learned the other day that it has something to do with google’s algorithm too
*some formula that results in some info appearing on 1st page n some not
ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*ya but you understand now, this bigger picture?
*ya
*and those formula in terminology are actually the way of SEO
*a couple of ways
*in the discipline of SEO
*to achieve top search results
*-> traffic
*-> readers/ followers
*-> $
’ l e e N says:
*icic. btw whats SEO again?
ﺕ xіαиfеиg * ٭ says:
*search engine optimization
*go ask yr lecturer abt it
*she sure know
*this one more technical
*usually more concerned to web programmers
*but commercial companies
*usually employ specialists to perform SEO
*to increase sales revenue (in short)
*since i said traffic -> eventually $
He learned about all these stuff on his own, through talks by renowned bloggers and so on. Amazing.
Wednesday’s guest lecture was mad awesome. Ping invited Pat Law whom some of us had already met at Yahoo! office during the revelation of Yahoo! Youreka! treasure hunt cum website tweaks.

Ping says that she is a really influential blogger in the blogosphere. Her hair’s real cool!!
Anyways, Pat had us glued to the slides with many interesting links on ‘How to search for news on blogs’, ‘How to follow specific information’, ‘How to listen on Twitter’, ‘How to evaluate an influencer’ and ‘How to pitch to a blogger’.

We learned about Google Alerts, Google Reader, Daymix, Twittalyzer, Twitterfall, etc, and how to use them.
Admit it. Most of us do not know that there is something more to Google aside from its search engine and Gmail. >.<
Google Alerts allows people to receive email updates of the latest and most relevant Google results (web, news, and so on) based on the topic/query that they ask for.
Daymix is really interesting as it allows users to dig out information on them. Say, if i were to search for your name, all photos that you put up on the web might appear! Scary, right?
We also learned the five processes of social media:
- Listen
- Plan
- Engage
- Amplify
- Optimise
There are many others that Pat went through with us. You can check them out at Nizam's blog here if you are interested!
Thank you Pat, we are extremely grateful to you for agreeing to come on our lecture!
For those who are not sure who Pat is, you may check out her website here or perhaps try out some of those links from Nizam’s blog to do so. *wink*
CATCH IT!
It’s all about why and how a group of people together is smarter than one or a few.
Where do you usually sees it?
- Wikipedia. The first person creates the wiki. Others might find that certain information is lacking/are wrong and will make changes. The final page may not be the same. However, this time, it is more accurate as compared to the initial one created by just one person. There is thus higher credibility in a way.
- Google. The search results on Google are based on a particular formula that revolves around the number of links a person has. The idea is that Google make use of that to identify who to list on the front page of search results.
Say, if you are a renown psychologist, when people searches for ‘psychology’, ‘mind’ and so on, they would be able to see your link on the front page (or earlier pages) since you have many clients who link you on their websites/mention you.
Hence, you could be just someone who is interested in psychology but your website will not be listed on the search results pages (first couple of pages) as you do not have as many people linking you.
Bottom line is, numbers make a difference!
When might Wisdom of Crowd not work?
- When there is an expert of that particular topic in the group. People are more inclined to them.
Here’s one video to cater to your understanding of that phrase:
I love this video. Reminds me of a certain movie. =D
And this is something similar to what Ping had us to do during the tutorial the other day to demonstrate the point.
How cool is that?
Last week, we were enlightened by Sam and Dine on the differences between Facebook page and group during their presentation for New Communication Technologies (NCT).
After they ‘lectured’ us on the differences, we were told to create a Facebook group or fan page, depending the group we were in.
Ping showed us how we can view the statistics (which reminded me of wordpress) and I was quite shocked that such a function is free!
My group was assigned to create a Facebook page, which surprisingly, was not as easy to create as the tab was right at the bottom of the site.
I certainly did not expect it to come under ‘Advertising’…
This entry might sound rather dry… but HEY!
Treat it as though i’m helping you with your general knowledge (teehee), which is especially important if you are a Facebook user thinking of setting up a Facebook group and/or page now or in the near future!
* * *
To me, Facebook page simply means my Facebook profile, and Facebook group refers to any group that people forms on the social networking site.
That was what most of us think too and we were wrong on both counts.
You must be thinking what rubbish i am talking about and continue to insist that a page and group are one and the same.
Well, below are two tables that will change your perception, as it did mine:

[Source: http://www.searchenginejournal.com/facebook-group-vs-facebook-fan-page-whats-better/7761/]

[Credit: as tagged]
Facebook page is otherwise known as a fan page.
Fan pages are visible to unregistered users and are generally better to build long-term rapports with fans, readers or customers, whereas groups are usually for active discussions and attract quick attention.
* * *
Now that you know the differences, depending on the nature of your purpose, you may create a fan page and/or Facebook group.
Checkout this tutorial on how to create a Facebook page:
[*2.11mins onwards]
And that of creating Facebook group:
[*3.44mins onwards]
These aren’t the best videos i can find, but they certainly do teach you the basics. =]
“If you’re looking to create a group for your business on Facebook, you may want to create a Facebook page instead. A group that is for internal use is probably fine, but if you’re interested in having clients become fans of your business then creating a Facebook page is the preferred solution.
Before creating a group on Facebook, you should read the terms of service. Facebook notes that groups that attack a specific person or group of people (e.g. racist, sexist, or other hate groups) will not be tolerated. Creating such a group will result in the immediate termination of your Facebook account.” -nemock (youtube)
In addition, do note that only if you are related to the person whom you are creating the fan page for, or if you belong to his/her management, can you create a fan page.
In other words, a page is more official.
On the other hand, Facebook groups can be created by any users.
For more complete and clearer information on this topic before you create anything, click here.
Was looking at the terms people used in search engines that (accidentally) led them to this blog…
Can’t help laughing at some search phrases…
One of them was “how to check where is my ezlink if lost”. Another was on where they can replace their cards. ROFL!
Okay, sorry, this is unkind of me since id experienced it just yesterday? *karma*
Hope you guys have found yours already! =]
Reached my limitation. Someone’s a goner.
*true evil chuckle*
No, I’m not kidding.

Okay, I’m just a little wee bit crazy about this YAHOO! YOUREKA! thing……

I’m so terrible. Was supposed to do something related to school (which i still cannot remember what) but ended up playing this Tetris-like game called ‘SMASH WALL‘ on YOUREKA! page.
Click on the brick which has a game console on it.
I lost all my game lives at the start… =.=
But hey, i managed to play until level 4 with a score of 1670/2710 okay.
Checked the Top 10 scoreboard and saw someone named ‘Wally’ at number 2!
Hey Wals, is that you?
I was pleasantly surprised by the creativity of this game. The way they integrated it to be part of the page and the interaction with other blocks. Kudos to the game designer(s) and people who conceptualized it
Go smash some bricks here when you have time! =D
I gotta go figure out what i was about to do before i was distracted by this game…
Communication alone, without some fun, would not be as effective as one that is interactive and fun enough to capture target audiences’ attentions + retain their interests.
What say you?
For those who got my tweets, yes, i found my Ez-link card. In yesterday’s jeans. =.=”
Was afraid that i would have to continue to fork out extra bucks for a replacement but the Concession Card Replacement Office ladies told me to call Transitlink office immediately as they might not have canceled the card yet.
And hooray, they hadn’t and i can continue to use my old card!
Would be a waste if i were to spend on a new card since this is already my final year.
Went to the library to celebrate since it was already too late to head down to Pyaya’s place. Bought some sushi too.
Was about to leave Lot 1 when i received a bad news from Jov. Could hardly believe it. I can’t believe we’d missed that out the other day. Will deal with it tomorrow. Yes, im in a state of shock. *prays that all will be fine*
Anyways, went to Cathay to redeem my red tag for the Yahoo! YUREKA! hunt thingie.
The friendly Yahoo! crew got me to draw a tag from the lucky draw box and i got a PURPLE TAG amongst the red ones! Thanks guys! <3
Registered with them for the YOUREKA! Challenge @ YOUREKA! Finale Party on the 28th November (oh no, just realized class outing/chalet might falls on that date too but i will come after/before this competition). I wonder how many others qualify for this treasure hunt… Stand a chance to win a Honda Jazz!! OMG. Hope my luck won’t fails me on that day. That would determine whether i should get a license or not.
Oh. I think i might have filled in my NRIC name instead of the ‘Aileen Tan’ and hotmail email address instead of my yahoo! one. Hopefully that won’t pose as a problem. But what irony eh?
And it has BUS PLUS TRAIN CONCESSION VALUE inside on top of $2.08!!!
Couldn’t find it anywhere. In the end i was too late to watch oktoLIVE! repeat as well as head down to Pyaya’s house for Deepavali housewarming…
Called Han to ask what i should do and she advised me to call up Transitlink. Thanks Han.
I canceled the card… Hopefully i wont find that card at work since the cancellation is permanent. =’(
The customer service officer gave me a claim number and told me to bring along $18 replacement fee + $5 top up value, together with passport-size photo and NRIC to the Card Replacement Office later. Sigh.
The only lucky thing is that they can refund my remaining concession amount though i can only claim from them next week. Okay, not exactly a good thing… but at least my 93 bucks concession won’t fly off just like that.
Funny, how i always seem to lose things. Spectacles, laptop, everyday things like pens and now, EZ-link card! I can never be too paranoid enough.
Shall go out to replace my card now. Wish me luck.
I wonder what else i will lose next.
Yes! It’s over! One down, 16 more to go!
We rushed to work after school for rehearsals. Ping, Ms Nga, our director, Mrs Lam, Mr Loh, seniors Rahim and Fatimah visited us. =D
The kids were really cute! Especially TJ. *awwww*
And i LOVE the set design!!! <333
Anyways, checkout what these crazy people were doing during breaks:
This one is epic. Jov and Yam/n danced to Jaiho while poor Flo was trying to mop away the water that Ying2 accidentally spilled (LOL!) and their footprints.
And finally, we were left with 30 minutes to the start of the show.
Managed to watch two MVs from TVB channel only. ROFL.
Yam/n and I took turns mending the SMS thingie while our producer, LH, advised us.
It was a touching moment when i saw the opening titles.
After the first commercial break, i swapped with Yam/n to try out the SMS thing.
Time passed really quickly and i had no time to watch and hear what was going on until nearing the end when the SMS bar was taken out.
During the credits, i felt emotional again. *sob*
THANKS EVERYONE FOR THE HARD WORK!
After the show, we went to Novena Square with Mr Loh for dinner at Fish and Co. Seafood platter! Felt super full. Celebrated Mr Loh’s ‘birthday’ (oktoLIVE’s season 1 anniversary cum oktoLIVE season 2 ep 1). Superb hilarious. Way to go, Mr Loh!
Please pardon the quality.
I hope i can try out new things such as mending the video calls, voice calls and so on next time. I wouldnt want to be restricted to one, would you? =]
oktoLIVE! will repeat every Sunday, 1pm, so do tune in if you have missed it yesterday night!
Will post up more photos soon! Note this space.

See you there!
This is a birthday video produced by the oktoLIVE! team (after many many many takes ‘cos i kept laughing. Sorry guys! ROFL!)!
[P.s. ignore my crappy hair, stiff body, clenched fists and deep voice. i was trying hard not to erupt into laughter.]
And here are some behind-the-scenes of the making of Ping’s birthday video! XD
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PING!!! >.<
Hope you have an enjoyable time teaching us and THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!!
Stay young forever!!!
We know you love us. *wink*
Random stuff.. O.O
Really sorry to the poor Chinese man whom i accidentally knuckle-punched in school today.
Was talking animatedly to Aq and Jov about the high price of joining SP’s Graduate Guild membership while walking past the lifts when i swung out my left arm and punched a man who was walking behind.
Here’s the scenario:
Me: (talking about the expensive-ness of the Grad Guild membership) *swings out left arm to demonstrate my case*
My left arm: *bang against something hard*
Something hard: OOFFGGHH!!!
Me: *turns head and saw a middle-aged Chinese man clutching his chest in pain and was stunned* OH MY GOD. SORRY SORRY SORRY *pat his shoulders* SORRY!!!
Chinese man in pain: OWW…! *turns and looks at me in pain before rushing into CASS office*
Me: *calls out after him* SORRRYY!!!
I can’t help laughing whenever i recall that incident. Super duper ZOMG.
BUT! I was really lucky that that Chinese man did not yell at me or anything. He looked more shocked than angry at that point of time. Though i believe he must be cursing me right now…
Perhaps he was in a rush just now…
Oh. And luckily that person was not a lecturer or student! >.<
P let us watch a short clip of Minority Report (directed by Steven Spielberg) starring Tom Cruise last week during our New Communication Technologies (NCT) tutorial class.
It has been a long while since id last caught the movies and this one definitely had me hooked.
Throughout the show, i was constantly awed by the great amount of effects used. I think my jaws dropped at least ten times as we were constantly bombarded with mad crazy futuristic ideas such as vehicles that drive vertically up and down buildings because in the year 2054, there just isnt any space left for more roads!
With technology advancing like nobody’s business, John Anderton (Tom Cruise) and his team of police officers from Precrime department had to catch people who had not but were about to commit murders!
Who would have thought of such insane (but might turn true) stuff?!
I wouldnt want to reveal more about this movie if you hadnt watch it. It’s darn cool and makes you reflect on the future.
You might think that such stuff wouldnt happen. But who knows right?
Come on, who would have thought that one can actually communicate with a US President (via Twitter. Although most probably he might not reply…)?
With new communication technologies constantly evolving and overtaking the traditional media, anything is possible.
New media today might turn obsolette tomorrow.
Came across this page after nearly 1 month. Weeeh~!

Inspiration
Anyway, yesterday Jov and I met one of the most amazing person ever. He’s just 19 but has accomplished much in all areas that we barely have a foot on. I can’t help but write about him.
We were constantly shocked one after another on the vast amount of information and knowledge he has.
He is a guitarist, Team Singapore freestyle slalom skater, keyboardist, used to breakdance, ice-skate… and now he’s taking up vocals lessons! I think i might have missed out some stuff here.

Smart Dan wearing his 1000 plus skates. OMO!
He looks like a typical 19 years old guy (the introvert-looking type) but he has an amazing success story behind him. Language excellent and all that.
In fact, his entire family is talented too! Dad quited work to write two books, Mum is some manager at NTU, 1st brother is a doctor/neurosurgeon, 2nd brother’s a psychologist… and he’s a jack of all trades.
He told us that everyone in his family writes. And yes, Jov and I were stunned again. His brothers are obsessed with things like the history of mathematics (how did pi came about), spatial dimensions (which Jov and I still have no idea what that is), and so on! He gave us the link to his blog and I was again awed by his language, thinkings and NUMBER OF COMMENTS FROM READERS!!! Some posts have nearly 800 over comments!!!
At just 19, he has strong beliefs in many things… buying of properties while working a fixed salary job, and so on. He has a zeal to succeed in life too! For example, when we told him that he should be more outgoing and speak up when we met him the other time, he told us that he had worked on that and we really saw that he improved!
We felt so un-talented and not special beside him!
He has lot’s of questions about life and so on and his speech made us think about our lives.
For him, he has so many things that he want to do but he does not know which.
For me, i have some things that i want to do, but those are dreams. What i really want to do after graduation? I have no ideas still. Graduation is fast approaching and i am still in a spot over my future plans. Oh no.

Dan's handmade skates that costs 1000+ from Korea!

He had his name imprinted on his skates too! Gold and black! Wow!

Motion Sickness
We have worked for more than one month at MCS now.
Saw celebrities, attended events, took photos with some of the artistes, screamed silently in our hearts when we saw our favorite DJs (*yells ‘DANIEL ONG’ and ‘MUTTONS’* and artistes (‘KYM NG’, ‘DARREN TAN’, etc*)……
Saw Darren, Daniel, Mr Young, Gurmit, Ge Ping, Li Ping, Patricia, Glenn, Andie and many others at MCS Artistes V.S. DJs basketball challenge last Friday!

After completing our work, we dropped by the BasketBall court to watch the artistes VS DJs match.
And of course, we understood more about productions.
Have gotten used to it although i will still whimper about the timing, distance and so on. Can’t help it, sorry. =P
One thing that might not change would be my terrible motion sickness.
Now, i can barely get out of the bus or cab in the right state of mind and health. *pukes*
And no, wearing spectacles does not help much.
Anyways, i can’t believe it. THIS Friday would be the first episode of oktoLIVE!
Yam/n and I would be handling the SMS system, Jov and Shireen the 3G call-ins, Lum, Aaronic and Megs as floor managers, Ying2 with VT line-up, Flo on panel.

Jov and Shireen before the 3G tech test run the other day. They man the 3G call-ins.
Quite nervous but hopefully everything will goes well. Have faith.
This time, oktoLIVE!’s is targeted at 4 to 12 years old kids. BUT. If you are still a kid at heart, do catch it!
oktoLIVE!
Every Friday
6.30pm to 7pm
only on okto! channel
What is Project MuttonC?
One of the tasks that P assigned us for our New Communication Technologies (NCT) module is to set up a wordpress account. We have to treat it as a personal website for us to showcase our talents/achievements and so on.
Project MuttonC is currently taking place and don’t be surprise if this blog undergo any minor/major changes in terms of writings, layouts, designs and contents in the next few weeks.
However, i will still retain some personal touches and entries (i.e. of my idols, personal life).
Objective
To market, differentiate and brand myself from others in the REAL world while retaining personal slices of life accounts.

ARGH. Inline Skating elective is on a Wednesday!
Won’t be able to take it up due to internship. *groans*

I have a sudden urge to pick up inline skating and juggling!
I WANT TO LEARN FREESTYLE SLALOM!!!
That explains why i decided to try out inline skating/roller-blading at East Coast Park the other day. Freestyle slalom is darn cool, i tell y’all!
Anyway, speaking of juggling, I went to Toys R’ Us the other day after our meet-up with a client to ask for juggling bean bags/balls. The staff said they do not have!!! AHHH!!! No time to sew three balls for myself……
Digressing abit, i hope i have time to visit the new Hilltop library when school starts (which is tomorrow ‘cos today is MCS offday so we don’t need to work from office, and there’s no class for us on Monday)! I wanna borrow some books from there!!! *sees Jov and Yam/n shaking heads*
Somehow i felt touched and sad while watching this video of Ga-In as “a pro-gamer in a music drama for Samsung’s “4Tomorrow project” which was released on the 19th“.
[Credit to dwarousHQ for video and johnnydorama@allkpop for article]
- Read finish the borrowed BTT book. No, i didnt enrol. Yet.
- Us visiting one of our clients… Back at a tuition center for me. First time though for Jov. Smart girl.
- Jov’s obsessed with the girl model. LOL!
- Cute bins at United Square
- Came across this neat little outlet @ United Square after meeting some clients. The guy was teaching people how to roll candies!!
- I think he’s Wayne. They appeared in the news just days after we visited their outlet! Darn friendly and vocal.
- People kept flocking by to watch them make their candies.
- Checkout this CNA link for the article of this candy shop (http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/eatndrink/view/1011737/1/.html)
- Bought Korean Rice Cake with Jov from an outlet at Square 2 the other day. Nice but slightly plain and TOO SPICY!!! *screams* ROFL!
- Jov and I visited Yam/n and one of our producers in the editing suite the other day in hope of learning something. OMG. That editor edited like nobody’s business! Darn fast! First VT of Yam/n+Shireen’s segment is out. DARN NICE!!!
- Bought this cup pasta from Watson’s and tried cooking at office. OMG. Looked darn fake sia. HAHAA. Ying2 was so excited to see how the cup pasta was like! She was quite disappointed in the end. LOL!
- The pasta tasted horrible and ‘plastic’-cy. OMG. 2 bucks.
- At the makeup unit before Yam/n shoot. Jov and I followed her and another of our producers on the shoot for the first time.
- Jov and Yam/n’s nonya poses @ the makeup unit last Friday
- On the way to the shooting place in the early morning. Sha-lalala~
- Weird coin imprinting machine @ Suntec.
- I wonder what’s the difference between inline skating and roller-blading. Was at ECP yesterday for roller-blading. LOL. Didnt fall at all! Except during the initial stage. *proud of myself* HAHA!
- Noticed a Korean restaurant at ECP. Just behind the bike/skate rental shop and Burger King.
- My Ah Gui loves to climb out when he’s let out of his container (in toilet). BUT. He knows when to go back after roaming around the house!
- LOL. Han, this is my Ah Gui’s humongous shell! Post up photos of yours!
- “What are you staring at?”
- Shockingly, i only know of CCK ITE’s existence only late this year when i finally passed by in a car! And it’s nearing completion!
- Some television broadcast thingie on the site of the WWII monument
- Hiking up Bukit Batok Nature Park in slippers. Asking for troubles. ROFL. 121 steps. Didnt climb it though. WWII..
- Spotted a monkey at the bus stop. *push it into bin*
- It tried to pick stuff from the bin to eat.
- Toppled the bin’s lid in the end… Mission accomplished.
- I’m not a fan of monkeys although they can be cute sometimes. Read too many articles about how monkeys can attack people already…
- More monkeys. Thought they only come out at Bukit Timah Nature Reserve…
- The whole area was plagued with monkeys… Joggers and passer-bys just ignored them. LOL!
- A poorly taken photo of Farmart @ Lim Chu Kang. LOL! Admit it. It looks nice though. Like some watercolor painting. WAHAHA!
- Bought a laptop cooler from Sim Lim Square… OMG. The stuff there are real cheap!
- Got myself some laptop screen cum keypads cleaner too.
- Mee dug out some shoes from the storeroom and i can’t believe i actually wore those shoes before! So tiny and with funny imprints!
[Credit to time2sub2 for videos]
